FM 1103: the widening that will redraw your commute

TxDOT's FM 78-to-IH 35 widening is still in active planning, but survey crews are already on the road, and the decisions made this summer set the corridor through 2030.

The stretch of FM 1103 running through the heart of Cibolo carries tens of thousands of trips a week, and TxDOT's plan to widen it from FM 78 to IH 35 has quietly moved from "someday" to "surveying now." Homeowners between Wiederstein and FM 78 report crews staking the right-of-way this month.

"The road work is years away. The decisions that shape your street are happening this summer."

What to do now: if you own near the corridor, watch for property notices before fall and keep an eye on the city's planning agendas. We'll flag every public comment window the week it opens, so you're never the last to know.

Steele High nears 115% capacity by 2027

Site selection for a fifth SCUC high school is underway. Feeder neighborhoods, Kensington Ranch, Johnson Ranch, Bentwood Ranch, will likely see redistricting first. Zones move home values; worth watching if you own there.

FM 1518 lands on TxDOT's 10-year plan

The Schertz-Selma stretch is flagged for intersection upgrades near Lookout Road as Converse and Schertz push north. Not imminent, but a signal for anyone tracking property or planning a business on that corridor.
