FM 1103 Widening
TxDOT's original estimate was late 2025 or early 2026, but as of June 2026 the project is still active. A stormwater culvert installation closed a segment on the night of June 10-11, 2026. No confirmed final completion date has been published.

The $40M+ TxDOT project widens FM 1103 from two lanes to four between IH-35 and Rodeo Way. Improvements include:
  • A center turn lane
  • Dedicated bike lanes on both sides
  • Sidewalks the full length
  • Intersection improvements at major cross streets
  • Stormwater infrastructure upgrades

Construction began November 2022.

TxDOT schedules temporary overnight lane closures during active construction phases. The most recent closure (June 10-11, 2026) was for a permanent stormwater culvert installation. Closures are typically overnight (8 PM-5 AM) and are announced a few days in advance by TxDOT and the City of Cibolo.

TxDOT completed a study in 2007 on a possible extension of FM 1103 south to IH-10. The study concluded there were significant issues with such an extension and it has not been pursued since. There is no active project to extend FM 1103 beyond its current southern terminus. CiboloWatch will report if this changes.

Cibolo Development
Cibolo Crossing is the major retail development on IH-35 at Cibolo. Confirmed tenants and projected opening windows as of mid-2026:
  • Sprouts Farmers Market, under construction, targeted April 2027
  • Santikos Entertainment, open
  • Living Spaces, open since December 2021
  • Magnolia Pancake Haus, open since December 2020

The Cibolo Old Town Master Plan is a land-use and redevelopment vision for Cibolo's historic downtown area (S Main Street corridor). It was drafted with urban planning firm Lionheart Places and recommended by the Cibolo Economic Development Corporation in May 2026. The plan was presented to Cibolo City Council on June 9, 2026 for formal adoption.

The plan sets goals for pedestrian access, mixed-use development, and the long-term character of the original town center. CiboloWatch covered the council presentation and will track adoption votes and implementation steps.

The Cibolo Creek Municipal Authority (CCMA) manages wastewater treatment for the Cibolo and Schertz area. In a fast-growing community, wastewater capacity directly limits how many new homes and businesses can be built. CCMA's expansion projects and rate decisions affect every property owner in the service area, CiboloWatch monitors CCMA board meeting agendas and infrastructure announcements.

Schertz & SCUC ISD
TxDOT is fully reconstructing FM 1518 from FM 78 to IH-10 in Schertz, a 5.6-mile corridor at a total cost of $72.78 million. Active construction in 2026 includes storm sewer upgrades south of Lisa Meadows Drive and intersection work at Lower Seguin Rd, Ray Corbett Dr, and Schaefer Rd. The segment from Lower Seguin to IH-10 has a summer 2026 completion target.

FM 1518 is a primary access road for JBSA-Randolph and neighborhoods throughout south Schertz.

Yes. Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD voters approved a $295 million bond. The bond funds campus improvements, new construction, and technology upgrades across SCUC ISD schools serving Cibolo, Schertz, and Universal City. The next tracked public hearing is July 7, 2026 at 6 PM at Schertz City Hall (1400 Schertz Pkwy, Building 4). The agenda includes two ordinances, Ord. 26-S-015 and 26-S-016, related to rezoning at 6615 FM 482 for an industrial hub designation. Residents may attend in person or submit comments in advance.
